Performance Responsibilities Provide therapeutic services to high school students in the Compass Program, a specialized program for students with cognitive delays, through individual and/or group service delivery models. Perform initial/re-evaluations and implement treatment plans based on student needs, educational impact, and transition goals. Lead social cognition, social communication, and pragmatic language groups designed to develop students' social thinking, self-awareness, perspective‑taking, executive functioning, self‑advocacy, and interpersonal communication skills. Collaborate with special education teachers, general education teachers, counselors, related service providers, job coaches, families, and other school staff to integrate communication goals within students' educational, vocational, and community‑based programs. Provide ongoing consultation and programmatic support to the Compass Team regarding social cognition, communication strategies, functional communication, transition planning, community access, and interventions that promote student independence and post‑secondary success. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, parent conferences, transition planning meetings, and Compass Program planning meetings. Responsible for evaluation reporting, goal development, progress monitoring, and serving as a liaison regarding speech-language and social communication services within students' IEPs. Support inclusionary practices and provide services across school, vocational, and community‑based settings as appropriate. Maintain thorough and accurate records related to evaluations, service delivery, consultation activities, progress monitoring, and compliance requirements. Assist in the development and implementation of program‑wide initiatives that promote communication, social competency, self‑determination, independent living skills, and successful transition outcomes for students with cognitive delays.
