Senior Cook

Experienced Cook – Springfield, IL Arena Food Service, Inc., a privately owned and fast growing food service management company, is seeking an experienced Dietary Cook at a facility in Springfield, IL. The successful candidate will work within the Dietary Department, ensuring quality food and operational stability. The Dietary Cook will direct and assist the preparation and serving of regular meals, work directly under the Dietary Manager to ensure the smooth operation and integration of the dietary department with other facility departments, and serve as a supervisor in the absence of the Dietary Manager. Responsibilities Provide restaurant quality table service to residents. Assist residents and team members with the utmost respect and courtesy. Present a professional demeanor that communicates a corporate philosophy of service, goodwill, and genuine interest in each resident's needs. Read and follow menu and recipe for each meal. Assume shift supervisory duties in absence of the Dietary Manager. Perform cooking duties with other workers. Portion and present food in a healthful and aesthetically pleasing manner. Ensure a clean and sanitary environment within the kitchen, storage and servery. Qualifications Previous cooking experience is required; minimum 2 years. Ability to read, write, and understand English. Good mental and physical condition; must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work productively with a diverse group of co-workers. Enjoy working with the elderly and within a tight-knit community. Flexible in schedule. Knowledge of dietetic principles, food sanitation, and food service operation. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check in accordance with the Illinois Health Care Workers Registry. Must have a Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate or be willing to obtain the certificate within 30 days of hire.
