AMN HEALTHCARE

MRI Technologist Opportunity

This 13-week MRI technologist assignment offers a rewarding opportunity to practice in a supportive hospital-based imaging department while enjoying the relaxed lifestyle of Big Spring, Texas. Located in scenic West Texas, Big Spring offers a welcoming community, scenic landscapes, and a cost of living that makes it easy to enjoy more of what matters to you outside of work. Big Spring is known for its wide-open skies and outdoor recreation. Big Spring State Park offers striking overlooks, walking and biking trails, and beautiful sunset views that showcase the region's natural beauty. Residents enjoy Comanche Trail Park, local golf, and nearby lakes for fishing, kayaking, and family outings. Community events, local dining, and small-town charm create a friendly, close-knit environment, while larger cities like Midland and Odessa are within driving distance for additional shopping, dining, and entertainment options. In this role, you will join a hospital-based MRI team dedicated to providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services. The department is equipped with modern MRI technology and supports a broad mix of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency cases, giving you the opportunity to expand your skills and maintain a robust clinical practice. You can expect to work with a collaborative group of technologists, nurses, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals who prioritize patient safety, comfort, and accurate imaging. Typical responsibilities will include performing a full range of MRI procedures, including brain, spine, musculoskeletal, and body imaging, according to established protocols and radiologist preferences. You will conduct thorough patient screenings for MRI safety, explain procedures to patients and families, position patients appropriately, and ensure image quality that supports accurate diagnosis. You will also work within the electronic medical record and PACS/RIS systems to document exams, manage orders, and communicate with the care team. This assignment is structured as a 5x8s day-shift schedule, with 40 expected hours per week, offering predictable daytime hours and weekly billing and pay cycles. On-call is not anticipated for this role, allowing you to enjoy your evenings and weekends exploring the area and taking advantage of the region's relaxed pace of life. The environment is traveler-friendly, with staff experienced in onboarding temporary and contract personnel and integrating them into the department. This position is well-suited for MRI technologists who want to strengthen their experience in a hospital environment, maintain strong general MRI skills, and build their resume with a solid West Texas hospital assignment. The mix of cases, supportive team, and welcoming community make this a balanced opportunity for technologists seeking both professional growth and personal quality of life.
