Note: Candidates must have 3+ years of directly relevant commercial real estate development, construction, or infrastructure accounting experience. Hands-on project accounting experience involving construction costs, CIP, capital expenditures, monthly close, and financial reporting is essential.

Job Description

• Manage accounting records for multiple active development and construction projects.
• Record and review project costs in accordance with U.S. GAAP and capitalization policies.
• Maintain detailed accounting schedules for land, hard costs, soft costs, capital expenditures, and construction-in-progress.
• Review project invoices for accurate coding, capitalization, and cost allocation.
• Account for construction loan draws, advances, interest, and capitalized interest.
• Maintain and reconcile CIP balances and coordinate construction draw activity.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages for development entities.
• Perform budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analysis.
• Complete month-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement analysis.
• Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and transfers from CIP when projects are placed into service.
• Partner with Development, Construction, Accounts Payable, Finance, and Procurement on project costs and reporting.
• Support the implementation and optimization of NetSuite project accounting, reporting, dashboards, and workflows.
• Help establish scalable accounting procedures, financial controls, and audit-ready documentation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial real estate development, construction, infrastructure, or capital project accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Strong knowledge of project accounting, construction accounting, CIP, fixed assets, and capitalization.
• Experience preparing financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ground-up development projects strongly preferred.
• NetSuite experience preferred.
• Construction lending and draw accounting experience preferred.
• CPA or active pursuit of CPA certification preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
