Job Summary

We are seeking an Optician or Optician Manager to join our team at Music City Optical. As an Optician, you will speak with patients to learn about their lifestyle and needs, take facial measurements, and help them pick out eyewear and lenses that meet their needs. You will do check outs for exams, eyewear and contact lenses. You will also help clients learn about their new products, explain pricing and insurance coverage, and follow all HIPPA and confidentiality regulations closely. The ideal candidate has exceptional customer service skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of an optometrist’s office. We utilize software and technology to deleiver high level care and products as well as driving efficiency.
If not licensed, we will sponser and reimburse to become a licensed optician.
For Optician Manager, we are seeking a team builder and manager.
$500 sign on bonus after 6 mos and $500 after 12 mos of full time.

Responsibilities 

• Meet and talk with patients to learn their needs for eyewear
• Make suggestions on frames, and assist patients in choosing the best option for them
• Take facial measurements to ensure a perfect frame fit
• Prepare specific orders for the ophthalmic lab 
• Explain pricing, insurance, and payment options to the patient thoroughly
• Operate under all HIPPA and confidentiality regulation
• Eyewear Inventory
• An Optician Manager (or Assistant Manager) will manage the optical as well as the other employees.  Will need to direct biweekly employee meetings. A manager must have a strong track record building teams. Staff trainings are also an important part of the job.

Qualifications

• Previous optometrist’s experience or other optical setting necessary
• No License required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong understanding of HIPPA 
• Strong customer service skills
• Must have excellent computer skills, including optometry software and EHR.  Eyefinity Encompass and EHR experience a plus.
• Must be very efficient with Mac computers and i-Pads
• Must be familair and efficient using Vision Benefit websites to order eyeglasses. VSP and self pay orders are automatically sent through the software ay check out.
• We utilize ABB Verify to look up Vision Benefits, which drives efficiency
• Position can grow into management, if talent is present. May hire as Optician Manager if candidate has necessary experience.
• Pay is hourly pay plus bonuses. Pay is negotiable with experience, and expertise, and job title and duties.
