Manual QA EngineerLocation: Seattle, WA (Onsite) Duration: Long Term ContractRole and responsibilities: Client is seeking a highly detail-oriented Manual QA Engineer with hands-on experience validating U.S. tax calculations within Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, preferably in a high-volume retail environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of sales tax calculations across multiple jurisdictions, validating tax-related business rules, and executing end-to-end testing of POS transactions, including sales, refunds, voids, returns, discounts, and promotions.Basic Qualifications:7 years of Manual QA testing experience.Strong experience testing retail POS applications.Hands-on experience validating U.S. sales tax calculations and tax compliance requirements.Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar defect-tracking tools.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Required Skills:Develop, review, and execute manual test cases for POS tax calculation functionality.Validate U.S. sales tax calculations across federal, state, county, city, and special tax jurisdictions.Test tax scenarios for beverages, food items, merchandise, gift cards, and digital transactions.Verify tax behavior for discounts, promotions, coupons, loyalty rewards, and tender-specific transactions.Perform end-to-end testing across POS, payment processing, back-office, and reporting systems.Collaborate with Product, Business Analysts, Developers, and Tax Compliance teams to clarify requirements and expected behavior.Create detailed test plans, test cases, test evidence, and execution reports.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in a large-scale retail environment.Experience validating tax integrations with third-party tax engines such as Vertex, Avalara, or similar solutions.Familiarity with payment processing and tender types including Credit Card, Mobile Pay, Apple Pay, GooglePay, and Gift Cards.Basic SQL knowledge for backend validation.Experience testing APIs using Postman or similar tools.Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
