Details Phase I PACU unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center PACU operates and is staffed 24/7, receiving all surgical specialties except open heart cases Average daily census of 65-85 patients Day shift schedule: 4x10 hours, 11:00 AM-9:30 PM Call requirement of approximately 12-24 hours within a 6-week schedule Required to work or be on call for 1 holiday during the contract Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals Cerner charting system used Requirements Active RN license (IN or Compact) required in hand prior to start date Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (PALS preferred) Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required Level 1 Trauma Center experience required ICU/PCU experience preferred Cerner charting experience required Experience with all surgical services including Neuro, Ortho, PV, Thoracic, Urology, Gyn, and Plastics Experience caring for intubated and ventilated patients required Pediatric patient care experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program 2 supervisor references required Comfortable working in a large, fast-paced, high-acuity facility Additional Information Provide post-anesthesia care to a high-acuity surgical population, including many critical care and neuro patients Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval First-time travelers are welcome to apply Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must complete a designated break to reset eligibility In-state residents are considered local and may be offered a reduced pay package for this position American Traveler Job ID P-744728.
