As a Shipping Lead at Excelsior, part of Ryerson family of companies, you will oversee the warehouse team and assist the Supervisor with production and department goals. Roles and Responsibilities: Operate motorized material handling equipment such as an overhead crane, side loader, and forklift Fill in where needed when short-handed or during periods of high demand Train staff to ensure they are fully trained for the tasks they are performing Lead pre-shift safety and production huddles with the team Ensure corrective actions are carried out to eliminate workplace hazards React to machinery breakdowns by directing repairs when possible, arranging for outside repairs or reassignment of personnel as needed Assume short-term responsibility for management absences as requested All other duties as assigned Requirements: Successfully pass a skills-based assessment 3-5 years of experience Experience operating equipment and ability to recognize materials in the service center Leadership abilities and desire to advance and solid interpersonal communication skills Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment Flexible, dependable, and solutions-oriented Develop proficiency in SAP as part of the role Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility Wage: $28 - $30 hourly. A starting hourly wage higher than $28 is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
