Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS
Common diagnoses/Types of patients Congestive heart failure (CHF), hypertension, and chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, and pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, asthma, and pneumonia, Pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure.
Experience or 'Must have' skills Ideally an under standing of working rural. Lower resources while also typcially lower patient volumes.
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? No, RNs must be comfortable looking at strips and escalating to a physican when concering
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios Yea 1 for the floor once the floor is at 9 patients
RT Equipment (i.e., Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, vents, etc.) Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, vents,
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Self sceduling and Block
Weekend Requirement Yes - Full and part-time employees are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule, aligning with department needs, unit staffing plans, and ensuring equitable distribution among all staff
