Operator I The Operator I performs direct fulfillment manufacturing processes to support on-time shipment of high-quality products. This role focuses on manual assembly, functional testing, materials handling, and basic computer-based production tasks in a clean, organized, and safety-focused environment. The Operator I works efficiently to maximize output while maintaining strict adherence to quality, safety, and security procedures. Responsibilities: Manually assemble systems using torque drivers and hardware to predetermined specifications and volumes. Perform functional testing of completed systems according to established work processes and procedures. Pull and stage required materials from flow racks and bin locations to support ongoing production. Execute back flush operations in the computer operating system to accurately record material usage. Conduct physical inventory counts in assigned areas and help maintain accurate stock records. Maintain 5S standards by keeping the work area clean, organized, and free of unnecessary items at all times. Follow all safety rules and use required personal protective equipment while performing job duties. Adhere to all health and safety regulations associated with the position and follow directions provided by supervisors. Comply with all procedures outlined in the company's security policy, including proper handling of materials and equipment. Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines, including staying to support project-based schedule demands when needed. Respect labeled restricted work areas and designated walkways to ensure a safe and orderly production floor. Essential Skills: At least 1+ year of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment, including clear responsibility for assembling specific parts or components. Minimum of 6+ months of on-the-job experience using common hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, and screw guns. Basic computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office, including the ability to start a computer, open and navigate documents, use a mouse to scroll and click, and perform basic typing. Ability to obtain and maintain all required job-related certifications as needed for the role. Capability to follow written and verbal instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines. Attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly, testing, and documentation of products and materials. Comfort working in a structured production environment with defined processes, quality standards, and performance expectations. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Mechanical aptitude, such as experience changing oil or tires, performing basic car maintenance, or completing home renovation or repair projects. Soldering experience, including use of soldering tools and performing repairs on electronics such as computers, phones, or circuit boards. Experience with circuit board assembly or related electronic assembly work. Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization and continuous improvement practices. Ability to work effectively in a team-based production environment with multiple operators on the floor. Work Environment: The role is based in a clean-room style production environment designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment. All floor employees wear special shoe inserts to dissipate static charge and prevent damage to products. The production floor hosts more than 50 people at any given time, with clearly labeled restricted work areas and designated walkways to maintain safety and order. Work is project-based, so there are periods when the entire team works together to meet critical deadlines, which may require staying beyond standard hours. The environment emphasizes 5S organization, cleanliness, and adherence to safety and security procedures. Operators regularly use torque drivers, common hand tools, and computer systems to perform assembly, testing, and back flush operations. Dress and footwear must accommodate the use of static-dissipative inserts and comply with clean-room and safety requirements. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Auburn Hills, MI. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $14.85 - $26.73/hr.
