Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician supports the production of membrane used in commercial projects by operating and maintaining manufacturing and laboratory equipment, preparing chemical solutions, and accurately recording production data. Working on the manufacturing floor, this role focuses on manual, high-quality membrane manufacturing, including coating, laminating, and assembling filter modules while adhering to established processes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense chemical solutions for membrane coating by following detailed recipes and mixing instructions.
• Use laboratory equipment such as balances and scales, stir plates, and fume hoods to measure, mix, and handle chemicals accurately and safely.
• Operate large roll-to-roll equipment and lamination machines to coat membrane sheets according to manufacturing specifications.
• Apply adhesive to laminated filter sheets and ensure proper stacking and compression of membrane sheets using compressor equipment.
• Run, monitor, and adjust various industrial and production machines located throughout the manufacturing floor.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on industrial machinery when errors or issues occur to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
• Follow established manufacturing processes and work instructions precisely to maintain consistent product quality.
• Collect, record, and maintain relevant data from equipment operation and production runs, including data entry into Excel.
• Handle, store, and dispose of chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines and facility procedures.
• Use measuring tools to weigh, measure, and perform basic calculations required for production and quality control.
• Collaborate with other manufacturing technicians and team members to support smooth workflow across different rooms and process steps.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and comply with all safety requirements, including use of appropriate personal protective equipment.

• 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
• 2+ years of experience operating industrial machinery in a production setting.
• 2+ years of experience performing basic troubleshooting on industrial or production equipment.
• 1+ years of experience handling chemicals or similar materials in a manufacturing, laboratory, or related environment.
• Proficiency in machine operation and fabrication within a manufacturing or assembly production environment.
• Experience with assembly and production processes in the manufacturing industry.
• Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions for chemical mixing and membrane coating.
• Skill in measuring, weighing, and performing basic calculations to support accurate production and quality control.
• Experience with chemical mixing, including safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
• Ability to use measuring tools and laboratory equipment such as balances, scales, stir plates, and fume hoods.
• Basic data entry skills, including entering production and equipment data into Excel.

• Comfort working with a variety of industrial machines and production equipment across multiple rooms on a manufacturing floor.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to manufacturing processes.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately in a fast-paced production environment.
• Willingness to learn new equipment and processes as manufacturing operations evolve.
• Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other manufacturing technicians.
• Reliability and punctuality to support shift-based production schedules.
• Commitment to safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment with various types of industrial machines located throughout the facility. The manufacturing floor is organized into different rooms, each dedicated to specific steps in the production process, with different machinery running in each area. The environment can be busy, with manufacturing technicians moving throughout the floor and coordinating activities across multiple rooms. The dress code is very casual, complemented by required safety attire, including safety shoes and safety glasses. Employees work on designated shifts, with typical options including 1st shift (approximately 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (approximately 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (approximately 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.), subject to availability and operational needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.50/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Newark,CA.
