Probation Monitor

$6,031.00 - $7,547.00 per Month New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. Position Overview Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Probation Monitor coordinates various aspects of the Respiratory Care Board’s probation program and monitors licensed respiratory care practitioners placed on Board probation. The position ensures compliance with probation terms, manages sensitive cases and documentation, communicates with probationers and stakeholders, coordinates with legal and enforcement entities, and supports disciplinary processes. Duties include probation monitoring, case management, policy interpretation, report preparation, and oversight of compliance activities to protect public health and safety. Working Conditions This position works in a standard office environment with regular use of a computer and telephone. Duties require prolonged sitting, reviewing electronic and paper case files, and meeting established deadlines. The incumbent must handle multiple assignments with competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Occasional travel may be required for training or meetings. Special Requirements Title 11, section 703(d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Applicants must submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. Incumbent routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or sensitive program matters at all times. Eligibility for the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) may affect monthly salary; salary range does not reflect the reduction in pay. Desirable Qualifications Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information while exercising sound judgment. Experience interpreting laws, regulations, policies, or disciplinary guidelines. Ability to prepare clear written correspondence, reports, and case documentation. Experience managing competing priorities, monitoring deadlines, and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including legal staff, licensees, employers, and enforcement agencies. Experience with compliance monitoring, investigations, probation programs, case management, or regulatory enforcement. Strong attention to detail, flexibility, and a commitment to public protection.
