Security Technician 3 - Port Washington, WI Overview Convergint is seeking a full‑time, enthusiastic, results‑driven Security Technician to join our culture. The role involves installing, programming, commissioning, and providing customer training on fire, security, and building automation systems for projects ranging from small to enterprise‑level. The Technician will deliver projects on schedule and budget, serve as the principal technical interface with customers, and mentor less‑experienced staff. Responsibilities Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services security, fire alarm, life safety, and building automation systems. Reads complex blueprints, schematics, manuals, and wiring diagrams to determine installation requirements. Operates systems to commission new equipment, analyze performance, and diagnose malfunctions. Writes non‑routine programs of substantial variety and complexity. Provides technical support and customer training while maintaining high customer satisfaction. May perform custom system integrations, detailed upgrade planning, audits, and database management. Consults with engineering personnel on unusual problems and warranty work. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company health & safety policies. Advises management on customer satisfaction, product performance, and installation best practices. Prepares project deliverables: submittals, shop drawings, programming documentation, graphics, start‑up, certification testing, training, closure, and ongoing support. Identifies potential project risks and recommends mitigation strategies. Works closely with the Project Manager and Operations Manager, overseeing subcontractors and ensuring quality. Mentors and trains less experienced staff; may supervise testing, tuning, and adjustment of equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements At least five (5) years of experience programming, configuring, integrating, testing, and commissioning enterprise electronic security systems of similar scope, complexity, and criticality. Recent experience as the primary programmer on large‑scale, enterprise, or mission‑critical deployments. Experience supporting data centers or similar critical infrastructure environments preferred. Proficiency in access control programming, video management system configuration, third‑party integration, cybersecurity & system hardening, commissioning, troubleshooting, and producing as‑built documentation, test reports, and turnover packages. Strong communication and coordination skills for working with internal teams, customers, IT personnel, consultants, and trade partners. Certifications in current versions of Lenel OnGuard and Milestone XProtect. Must hold a valid driver’s license. Non‑CDL required. Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude; ability to read blueprints and perform calculations for area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc. Highly proficient computer skills including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
