Make a real difference in a student’s educational journey as a contract American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter/paraprofessional! This rewarding opportunity calls for a dedicated professional to provide 1:1 support for a student throughout the full school day. You’ll play a crucial role in fostering communication and inclusion, ensuring that the student receives the individualized attention they deserve from 7:15am to 2:15pm each day.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional, especially in school settings
- Ability to work 1:1 with students, supporting academic and social development
- Familiarity with educational accommodations and inclusive practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff and students
- Adaptability and professionalism in a dynamic classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a 1:1 ASL interpreter and paraprofessional for a student during all school hours
- Facilitate seamless communication between the student, peers, and school staff
- Provide academic, behavioral, and social support according to the student’s needs
- Assist teachers with classroom management and lesson adaptations as needed
- Support the overall learning environment by promoting inclusion and engagement
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity to student needs
