Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain accurate bookkeeping and accounting records for a variety of clients
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, payroll, and other balance sheet accounts
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules
• Review P&L statements and help identify trends, discrepancies, or areas requiring clarification
• Assist clients and internal team members in understanding financial performance, account activity, and reporting needs
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Support the preparation of individual and business tax returns by organizing client financials, workpapers, and supporting documentation
• Communicate with clients to request information, clarify transactions, and help ensure timely completion of work
• Assist with payroll, sales tax, 1099s, and other recurring client accounting needs as assigned
• Identify discrepancies, ask thoughtful questions, and help resolve accounting issues with accuracy and professionalism
• Maintain organized client files, documentation, and internal workflow updates
• Collaborate with tax, accounting, and advisory teammates to support a coordinated client experience
• Contribute to process improvement and the continued development of Reason's workflows and systems
• Participate in internal training and remain open to new technology, tools, AI-supported workflows, and firm initiatives
• Own assigned work with accountability, time management, and attention to detail, particularly during busy seasons

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, public accounting, or client accounting services experience
• Enrolled Agent required
• CPA preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
• Experience working with small businesses, business owners, or professional service clients strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, journal entries, financial statements, and P&L reporting
• Exposure to individual and business tax preparation required
• Experience with QuickBooks Online, accounting software, digital tax platforms, or client management systems preferred
• AI experience or openness to using AI-supported tools to improve workflows, accuracy, and efficiency is a plus
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-through skills
• Comfortable managing multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines
• Clear communicator who is willing to ask questions, follow up, and work directly with clients when needed
• Tech-savvy and open to learning new tools, systems, and evolving firm processes
• Professional, dependable, curious, and eager to keep growing
• Local to central San Diego or within a 25-minute commute is ideal
• Willing to work in-office full time during onboarding and busy seasons; hybrid eligible after training period

Salary & Benefits:

• Salary range: $80,000–$110,000, DOE
• Annual bonus based on firm performance and individual contribution
• Unlimited PTO + paid holidays
