This is a highly responsible role involving emergency response, fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical care. Firefighters serve as essential first responders, protecting life and property through rapid intervention, teamwork, and professionalism.This position also includes participation in public education, fire prevention inspections, and the maintenance of department equipment and facilities. Firefighters work under the supervision of the Fire Captain and Fire Chief.Key Responsibilities Include:Responding to fire, rescue, and medical emergenciesProviding EMT-level patient care on scenePerforming firefighting and life safety operationsMaintaining fire apparatus, equipment, and station facilitiesParticipating in training, fire drills, and public education effortsAssisting in disaster response, water rescues, and emergency planningPerforming pre-incident planning and property inspectionsServing in an operational and support role during emergency declarationsMinimum Qualifications:State of Florida Firefighter II CertificationState of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) CertificationValid Florida Driver's LicenseHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to meet physical demands of the role and adapt under pressureKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Working knowledge of firefighting tactics, emergency medical care, and equipment operationFamiliarity with local geography and city infrastructureAbility to operate under stressful conditions with sound judgmentStrong teamwork, communication, and mechanical aptitudePhysical ability to perform essential job duties, including lifting, climbing, and prolonged activity in hazardous conditionsWorking Conditions: This role involves physically demanding tasks in high-risk environments, including exposure to heat, hazardous materials, extreme weather, and emergency scenes. Protective gear is worn, and physical fitness is essential.
