Location: 2 Woodward Avenue, Suite 720, Detroit, MI, 48226-3437, United States Base Pay: $46,661.00 / Year Job Category: Administration Employee Type: Non‑Exempt Full‑Time Contact: Phone View phone number on click.appcast.io | Email View email address on click.appcast.io SUMMARY Under general supervision, responsible for a variety of functions that support all operations, performs a variety of complex clerical support duties, may be independently responsible for complex clerical functions. This position may serve as lead worker in the clerical unit which includes assigning work to staff, providing detailed training, reviewing work products, responding to inquiries of staff, and assisting with workflow planning and procedural improvements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Investigates and resolves issues related to legal documentation and other problem areas. Determines the pertinence and adequacy, arrangement and form of reports or correspondence requiring familiarity with Court rules, policies and procedures. Drafts and types important and/or confidential correspondence and reports. Plans, schedules and reviews work of subordinates, as assigned. Leads group of clerical employees, as assigned. Operates computers, copy machines and other office equipment. Performs word processing functions, including proofreading and checking work for accuracy. Creates and maintains records in databases, spreadsheets and logs. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS High school graduation or its equivalent. Two (2) years of successful clerical experience; experience in a court setting, preferred. Experience using MS Office Suite and relevant software and systems. Experience commensurate with the job that demonstrates the required skills and competencies may be considered in lieu of education requirement(s). If an employee drives on behalf of the Court, the employee must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license, no fault insurance and access to a vehicle to use in the performance of assigned duties. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to apply general rules to specific problems and identify effective solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively explain court procedures to diverse audiences and interact professionally with internal and external customers. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, officials, and the public, even in high‑stress situations. Strong time management, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage the work of others. Thorough understanding of court processes, policies, and procedures. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to work with a diverse population. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to lift 25 lbs. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Successful completion of criminal and IV‑D background check, fingerprinting and rechecks.
