Student Work-Study: Welding

Position Summary Federal Work‑Study position for current Ivy Tech students. Part‑time, hired each semester, to assist the Chair of the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, and Applied Science in welding‑lab support duties. Major Responsibilities Assist with material preparation for classes. Assist with inventory of consumables and non‑consumables used in the welding area. Assist with maintenance of machinery and welding equipment in the lab. Assist with general housekeeping duties within the welding lab and classroom to maintain a professional appearance (e.g., sweeping floors, blowing out welding booths, wiping down equipment and tables, emptying shop trash cans, organizing delivery pallets, maintaining the gated outdoor space). Assist with scrap material removal from campus. Assist with fluid maintenance for the plasma table. Salary and Classification Starting Salary Range: $15.00 per hour. Classification: Work Study. Qualifications No prior experience required. Customer service or office support experience is a plus. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. Federal Work‑Study Eligibility High school diploma or equivalent. Completed a FAFSA for the current academic year, demonstrating financial need. Maintain a minimum of 1 credit hour or more of enrollment in eligible courses. Maintain an aid‑eligible Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status. No incomplete financial aid requirements. Benefits Competitive benefits and professional development opportunities available.
