Program Manager

Position Overview: Program Manager North Raleigh Ministries (NRM) equips families and individuals in crisis with the resources and skills they need to achieve stability. This is accomplished through evidence-informed and community-based programs that foster hope, purpose, and well-being. The Program Manager provides leadership oversight of food security programs, ensuring effective operations, compliance, and a consistent, dignified client experience through the supervision and support of program staff and volunteers. This role also expects flexible support across other CARE Services program areas as requested, helping ensure continuity of services organization-wide. The Program Manager reports directly to the Director of Programs and plays a key role in strengthening program quality, sustainability, and community engagement. This is a full-time, exempt position requiring strong leadership, organization, and collaboration skills, as well as a commitment to NRM's mission and values. Position Responsibilities: Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing professional development for the Food Pantry Manager and program staff. Oversee staff scheduling, PTO planning, and coverage to ensure consistent program operations. Facilitate regular staff meetings to support teamwork, planning, and continuous learning Ensure adequate staff and volunteer coverage is maintained for program operations, intake, and client services. Ensure the Food Pantry Manager maintains sufficient volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and retention to meet program needs. Provide oversight and support for quarterly volunteer meetings, ongoing training, and recognition efforts. Interview candidates for program position vacancies, in coordination with the Director of Programs. Provide backup coverage and support to other CARE Services program areas as needed to ensure continuity of services. Program Oversight & Compliance (50%) Ensure a positive, consistent, and client-centered experience for all individuals accessing program services. Address staff, volunteer, and client concerns or conflicts in a timely and professional manner, escalating to the Director of Programs as appropriate. Ensure accurate and timely entry of program data. Prepare monthly and annual program output and outcome reports. Support grant reporting and special projects by gathering required program outcomes. Participate in database development related to program workflows and outcomes . Ensure the program maintains compliance with food safety regulations and best practices, holding the Food Pantry Manager accountable for ServSafe certification and related standards. Ensure timely review of and response to food recall notifications. Ensure the Food Pantry Manager maintains contract compliance with food sourcing partners, including the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, Interfaith Food Shuttle, and other sourcing entities as needed. Oversee and maintain fidelity to food and nutrition-related groups and classes. Provide strategic oversight of food sourcing partnerships to support program sustainability. Ensure coordination of food drives with churches, agencies, and businesses, maintaining strong relationships and appropriate follow-up. Ensure agency participation in required meetings, trainings, and activities related to program grants and contracts. Stay informed of best practices and funding opportunities related to the program area and make recommendations to the Director of Programs. Meet with the Director of Programs to support staff development and program strategy Participate in bi-weekly Program Leadership Team meetings to support communication and strategic plan implementation. Engage in ongoing leadership development related to supervision, program management, and organizational effectiveness. Represent NRM at agency and community events as needed. Position Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred Experience 3–5 years of experience in program management, food insecurity, or human service. Experience supervising staff and volunteers required Skills Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. Experience with data tracking, reporting, and outcome measurement. Ability to build and maintain effective community partnerships. Commitment to client dignity, equity, and trauma-informed practices.
