About the Job The Institute of Child Development, College of Education and Human Development, continually accepts resumes for teaching positions that may open up during the academic year or summer session. These temporary, non‑tenured Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) positions are Teaching Specialist or Lecturer, paid on a per‑course basis for the Institute of Child Development – Department of Child Psychology at the University of Minnesota. Coursework and research focus on the central cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological processes that underlie the development of infants, children, and youth. The position is based on campus; work may be done remotely when appropriate and approved by your manager. 100% remote work requires prior approval. Job Responsibilities Teach assigned in‑person or online course at an undergraduate or graduate level on topics such as infant/adolescent development, cognitive development, language development, social and emotional development, disabilities and development, etc. Prepare course materials including syllabus. Attend all class meetings. Grade student materials including exams, papers, presentations, and final exams. Submit grades. Complete other duties as assigned. Student Advising Respond to student inquiries via email, phone, or in person. Be available for scheduled office hours. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Master's degree relevant to the teaching assignment required for appointment as Teaching Specialist. Doctorate or terminal degree relevant to the teaching assignment required for appointment as Lecturer. Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities. Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $3,275 – $3,775 per credit, depending on education, qualifications, and experience. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor‑Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp/Casual classifications.
