Strategy & Operations Analyst

Santa Fe Energy is looking for a Strategy & Operations Analyst to join our team in Dallas. Since 2020, we have deployed over $500 million into Permian Basin mineral interests, and we are still buying. The Strategy & Operations Analyst works directly with our Director of Investor Relations, supporting the Managing Partners and coordinating across land, acquisitions, finance, and operations to keep company objectives on track. While prior experience is preferred, it is not required. A strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and excellent communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate is resourceful and comfortable with unfamiliar problems, and equally willing to build/maintain a financial model, chase down a research question, or handle the routine work that keeps a small company moving. This is a generalist role for someone who wants to see the entire business rather than one slice of it, and priorities will shift from week to week. Professional Responsibilities Provide direct day-to-day support to the Director of Investor Relations across land, acquisitions, finance, and operations Translate the strategic initiatives of the Managing Partners into project plans, timelines, and finished work products Build and maintain Excel models, trackers, and dashboards used by firm leadership Prepare internal and investor-facing presentations, memoranda, and one-page summaries Produce recurring reporting, including deal pipeline, permit and drilling activity, and acquisition summaries Research court records, Texas Railroad Commission filings, and other public information in support of land and acquisition efforts Maintain and update internal CRM, ensuring data integrity across the system Coordinate with the Land, Title, Legal, and Accounting teams, as well as outside brokers, attorneys, and vendors, to move projects to completion Document internal processes and identify opportunities to automate or streamline manual workflows Take on ad hoc projects and day-to-day administrative tasks as needed to support SFE’s objectives Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree, or degree to be completed prior to start date High degree of personal integrity and discretion in handling confidential firm, investor, and deal information Exceptional resourcefulness: able to take an unfamiliar assignment with limited instruction and return with a completed answer Highly motivated and entrepreneurial; possessing a high degree of personal initiative, high work ethic, and intellectual curiosity Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Outstanding attention to detail, organizational and time management skills, and flexibility regarding workload and priorities Willingness to handle both high-visibility projects and routine day-to-day tasks with the same level of care Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team Based in, or willing to relocate to, Dallas, Texas Preferred Qualifications Coursework, internship, or degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Energy Management, Energy Commerce, Petroleum Land Management, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field Demonstrated experience building financial models or working with large data sets in Excel Familiarity with artificial intelligence and productivity tools, and an interest in applying them to streamline firm workflows Prior experience managing multiple competing priorities, such as a campus leadership position, internship, or job held during school Santa Fe Energy is an energy investment firm based in Dallas.
