Job Title EMS Program Director – EMT Location Los Angeles, CA Job Type & Hours Staff – Career (indefinite). Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm with possible evenings and weekends. Salary $7,200 – $15,400 monthly. Job Description The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care at the David Geffen School of Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine seeks an EMS Program Director to join our organization. The EMS Program Director works under the Executive Director and collaborates closely with Medical Directors and the staff and management team within the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care. As a key member of our EMS Program, you will lead a high-functioning team supporting the premier EMS education program in the nation. You will manage all aspects of the program, from coordinating and developing education programs to innovating and researching new learning methods, and play a crucial role in creating an active learning environment. Responsibilities Lead and manage all program operations, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Coordinate and develop various education programs for EMS, including primary paramedic instruction. Innovate and research new learning methods and distributed learning technologies. Advocate for student learning and foster an active learning environment. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing medical education programs. Supervise and coach staff, including hiring and professional development. Represent the program at accreditation activities such as COAEMSP. Collaborate with Medical Directors and other stakeholders to align program goals with institutional priorities. Required Qualifications Current licensure as a Paramedic, Registered Nurse, Physician’s Assistant, or Physician in California, or eligibility for licensure. Bachelor’s degree in health services, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience/training). Minimum of three years clinical experience. Minimum of three years experience as an educator, including at least two years in primary paramedic program instruction. Minimum of three years experience designing medical educational curricula and programs. Experience with distributed learning or distance learning systems (e.g., Adobe, Connect, Canva). Experience delivering fire-based EMS educational programs. Proficiency in student evaluations of cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains, including exam construction, performance metrics, and tool development. Detailed working knowledge of regulatory agencies governing medical education programs. Participation in COAEMSP accreditation. Experience directing education programs, hiring, coaching, motivating, supervising staff, and obtaining program accreditations. Certification as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Cardiac Life Support Instructor, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructor from the American Heart Association. Certification as a Prehospital Trauma Life Support Instructor from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and the American College of Surgeons. Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Availability to use personal vehicle for travel between hospitals and off‑campus locations. Availability for evenings, holidays, weekends, and on‑call emergencies. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in health services, education, or a related field.
