Outside Sales Lumber Representative

About the Role:

Our client, a well-established building materials distributor, is seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative to cover the Twin Cities region . This remote-based role is ideal for a motivated, relationship-driven professional with strong ties to the lumberyard, pro-dealer, or building materials community.

You will be responsible for managing existing accounts and growing territory sales by calling on lumberyards , dealers , and independent retailers , providing top-tier customer support, and promoting value-added solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain relationships with lumberyards, retail yards, and regional pro-dealers - Sell a wide range of building materials including lumber, panels, engineered wood, siding, and specialty products - Conduct regular in-person visits throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas to support existing accounts and identify new business opportunities - Understand customer needs and provide product solutions, pricing, and inventory support - Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform sales strategy - Work collaboratively with inside sales, logistics, and operations to ensure exceptional service - Track sales activity, pipeline progress, and territory performance using CRM tools - Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales goals

Qualifications:

- 3+ years of outside sales experience in building materials , lumber , or construction supply - Existing relationships with lumberyards or pro-dealers in MN is a strong plus - Self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working remotely with regular field travel - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Strong understanding of building materials, pricing structures, and customer needs - Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within assigned territory
