YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase Personal Trainer 9401 Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda, MD 20814, USA Job Overview The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is one of the largest charities in the DC area. The Y serves as an anchor in the community offering programs and services encompassing youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position is a Personal Trainer role with a commission-based salary of 50–55%. Responsibilities Complete thorough assessment of members’ fitness level and identify medical issues, obtaining signed release forms. Establish personal goals and objectives for each member. Plan and adapt appropriate training programs to meet member goals. Discuss program effectiveness with members and ensure objectives are being met. Assess and reassess member needs at each session. Maintain records of each member’s needs and progress. Attend staff meetings and professional workshops. Maintain all personal certifications through workshops and recertification training. Proactively build a client base to support overall branch goals. Perform fitness evaluations and incorporate safety considerations into exercise programs. Identify unsafe practices or conditions in the facility, notify the Wellness Director or intervene when unsafe behavior occurs. Pursue an area of expertise aligned with branch membership and community demographics. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications and Skills High school diploma or GED. Current CPR and AED certification. Current national personal training certification from a recognized organization. YMCA Healthy Lifestyles/Personal Training certification. YMCA Fitness Specialist or ACSM certification or equivalent experience. Minimum one-year personal training experience. Outgoing personality with sensitivity to each individual member’s needs.
