Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Step-Down Unit – North Carolina

Start Date: July 30, 2026

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Every other weekend required, no call, holiday rotation assistance required. Standard day or night shift patterns available.

Highlights:

• 40-bed Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit focused on ED decompression and enhanced throughput
• Patient ratios: 1:5 for Step-Down patients, 1:6 for Medical Surgical patients
• Cerner EMR system and Baxter IV pumps in use
• Fast-paced, quick-turnover environment with wide variety of diagnoses
• Extension opportunities available – many travel nurses return for multiple assignments
• Additional cross-training opportunities in Telemetry Monitoring Unit and ED Transport roles

Requirements:

• Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical Surgical, Telemetry (remote), and Step-Down (PCU) level care preferred
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Positive attitude with strong focus on teamwork and collaboration
• Charge Nurse experience or willingness to serve in charge capacity appreciated
• Ability to float to other units within skill set as needed
