Job Description

The Project Accountant will help support the project management staff while primarily supporting the Project Manager and Project Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Project Engineers and Managers to ensure accurate and consistent financial reporting, revenue recognition, and project billing

• Understand contract terms and assist Project Managers in performing project start-up, close-out, internal interim audits and maintaining the life cycle of projects

• Work with staff to provide accurate billings to Owners in accordance with contract terms

• Review project expenses to ensure accurate posting to projects

• Reconcile cost data between project cost ledgers and accounting systems

• Develop, manage and maintain cost controls and labor recaps in conjunction with the Project Manager and Project Superintendent

• Assist with monthly Margin Analysis and maintenance of Cash Flow Forecast

• Assist with monthly reporting for Senior Management and Owner.

Qualifications

• Business or Accounting degree

• Knowledge of construction accounting

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively engage different personality types

• Well organized and detail-oriented

• A self-starter and great team player

• Proficient with Microsoft Office

• Must be willing to work 40 hours per week plus overtime as needed to meet project deadlines

• Preferred Qualifications: Advanced knowledge of Excel

• VBA experience

• CPA or CPA candidate.

Physical Requirements

Light Work. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

• The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and office activity.

• Walking - The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, boxes, cabinets, etc.

• Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, phone, computer, and computer printer.

• The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office administration.

• Constantly computes, analyzes, and conceptualizes mathematical calculations and formulas.

• Constantly reads written communications and views email submissions.

• The person in this position regularly sits in a stationary position in front of a computer screen.

• Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.

• Rarely exposed to high and low temperatures

• Rarely exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.

Education

Business or Accounting degree.
