Structural Engineer

A leading organization in the electrical equipment manufacturing industry is seeking a Structural Engineer based in the greater Richmond, VA area. This role will lead the design, analysis, and coordination of structural systems supporting complex industrial, mission-critical, and infrastructure projects. This role will serve as a technical leader responsible for stamped engineering designs, consultant coordination, project execution, and mentoring junior engineers while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. Responsibilities Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, and other structural systems, including preparation and review of stamped engineering drawings and calculations. Serve as the primary liaison between internal engineering teams and external structural consultants, managing workload distribution, project schedules, and deliverable quality. Provide technical support throughout design and construction phases, resolving structural issues and responding to field inquiries. Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements while maintaining high-quality documentation and project records. Mentor and develop junior engineers, promoting practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable design solutions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. 5+ years of structural engineering experience supporting mission‑critical facilities, industrial facilities, data centers, manufacturing plants, utility infrastructure, or large-scale commercial construction projects. Strong knowledge of structural analysis methods, construction materials, building systems, and applicable design codes. Proficiency with structural engineering software, design tools, and engineering calculations. Proven ability to manage multiple projects, consultants, budgets, and schedules simultaneously.
