Non-Instructional Assistant Cafeteria - Part Time - Hughes Elementary School Job ID: 5773475 Application Deadline: Aug 10, 2026 11:59 PM (Mountain Standard Time) Posted: Jun 10, 2026 6:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description Employment Type: Part-time (7.5 hours per week) Base Hourly: $16.56 Class/Calendar: A11, 9.25 months Benefits: None Performance Pay: Available annually New Hire Experience: 1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten‑year maximum New Hire Education: 1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position Job Summary: Monitor the activities of students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground to provide for the safety and welfare of student and to communicate observations and/or incidents that may impact the general well‑being of students. Key Responsibilities Monitor the activities of students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground Counsel and/or intervene with students to ensure acceptable behavior Report observations and/or incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns Assist students during lunchtime Perform routine cleaning tasks (clean up spills on tables, floor, etc.) Regular and on‑time attendance required Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools Required Qualifications High School education or equivalent required Must be at least 18 years of age Experience working with and/or supervising children Skills & Competencies Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate Demonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community Must be able to manage small groups of children Ability to work well with students, staff and parents Ability to enforce school and/or district rules, regulations, policies and procedures Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with students, parents and staff Work Environment & Physical Requirements Occasional lifting, carrying, pulling, running, and/or throwing Must be able to push/pull up to 10 lbs and lift/carry up to 10 lbs.
