Position Summary This position is responsible for assisting the men’s volleyball program with recruitment, retention, coaching, and program development to ensure the best student experience possible for the members of the Benedictine University Men’s Volleyball Program. Responsibilities Assist the program with the identification and successful recruitment of qualified student‑athletes to help place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the GSAC (Great Southwest Athletic Conference). Coaching and mentoring student‑athletes; assist with film breakdown; develop and implement scouting reports, game and practice plans; coach in all traditional and non‑traditional segments to achieve competitive leadership in the GSAC. Assist the head coach, program, and university personnel with the retention of student‑athletes, including social and academic support; meet regularly to monitor academic progress. Provide instruction in technique and safety procedures in adherence with NAIA regulations and Sports Performance expectations during the declared playing and practice seasons. Provide support to Benedictine Mesa Campus Athletic Department and Physical Education Center. Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the University community. Attend departmental and university related meetings and events. Maintain a positive student‑athlete assessment for the program. Coordinate and facilitate university events with other departments. Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers, and fans. Serve on university, conference and national committees as needed. Promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree. Must be enrolled as a Benedictine student in good standing. Experience: Experience within a collegiate athletic environment preferred. Qualifications: Applicant must be accepted into the Benedictine University graduate program and remain in good standing with the University. Valid driver’s license and CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Specific Skills: Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills, and demonstrated supervisory skills. Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Valid driver’s license; CPR/First Aid/AED certification required within the first 90 days. Physical Requirements: May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.; able to reach, bend, stoop, lift; sit, walk or stand for long periods; handle stress; possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching; frequent travel; outdoor exposure. Travel: Yes. Supervisory Responsibility: Yes. Working Conditions: Office environment; nights and weekends required. Training: Must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
