Float Driver (18 yrs+) Seasonal - SeaWorld San Diego

Overview This is a seasonal role for the Summer Season at SeaWorld. Hours may vary based on business need, with typical shifts of 2.75 hours in the evening. Responsibilities Safely operate and maneuver float vehicles weighing up to 16,500 lbs. Drive parade floats along the parade route and in and out of storage. Perform start‑of‑day checks on parade floats and maintain logs of vehicle and technical element performance. To tow other float units, drive backstage and onstage, load and unload characters, and assist with props and technical system readiness. Adhere to all safety guidelines, procedures, pre‑determined routes, and cues. Assist in the startup and preparation of all floats, including cleaning, effect preparation, and set props. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Operate technical equipment such as on‑board show control, communications, audio, lighting, video, and special effects, including theatrical effects synchronized to music. Consistently demonstrate courteous and professional behavior with ambassadors and guests, maintaining a professional appearance that meets grooming standards. Complete assigned tasks from management as needed and practice safe work habits, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Lift, move, and report unsafe situations as required. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to lift and move 50 pounds. Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to read, write, and speak English. Positive attitude, team player, with multitasking and collaboration skills. Willingness to comply with all company grooming guidelines and employment standards. Ability to complete all legal, company, and department training requirements, including passing required tests and certifications within established timelines. Valid state driver’s license with no major infractions and the ability to obtain a company park driver’s permit. Experience operating heavy machinery (forklifts, man lifts, pickup trucks, box trucks) preferred. Ability to react quickly to audio and visual directions. Comfortable working in tight spaces and in close proximity to other people. Comfortable utilizing all required PPE, including dual ear hearing protection. Capacity to sit, stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods in extreme weather conditions. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, overnight, and holidays for six months.
