Travel Psychiatric Registered Nurse | Prospect, Kentucky

Advance your nursing career in a specialized psychiatric behavioral health setting, working with adolescents navigating complex emotional and behavioral challenges. This contract opportunity is ideal for experienced travel RNs ready to make a significant impact on a dedicated unit.


Schedule:

• 3 x 12-hour shifts (rotating schedule)
• Weekend rotation: Every third weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday coverage according to assigned schedule

Qualifications & Experience:

• Active RN license and BLS certification required
• CPI certification (provided on site; must participate in physical program, including safe patient holds)
• At least 6 months' psychiatric RN experience and completion of one prior travel assignment
• Skilled in de-escalation, milieu management, and supporting a wide age and functional range, especially ages 4-12
• Competence in IM medication administration, basic asthma management, and expertise in managing multiple escalated cases simultaneously
• Comfortable making decisions about seclusion/restraint and carrying out physical holds as needed
• Experience with Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication dispensing preferred
• Ability to float to other psychiatric units (children through adult) and adjust to schedule/shift changes as facility needs dictate

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality, compassionate psychiatric care to a diverse pediatric population
• Manage acute behavioral situations, including use of de-escalation techniques, seclusion, and restraints as indicated
• Work both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary support (therapists, case managers, security and rapid response resources)
• Participate in ongoing staff education, new employee orientation, and continuous improvement of patient safety protocols
• Maintain documentation to high professional standards in the EMR
