Overview Sentara Careplex Hospital - Hampton, VA Night shift | Rotating weekends | 36 hours/week The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion and removal. Performs duties under the direction of the professional RN. Observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and documents changes in a timely and accurate manner, reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff. Location and Schedule Sentara Careplex Hospital, Hampton, VA Night shift with rotating weekends; 36 hours per week Unit Medicine Unit Responsibilities Provide patient care and support activities of daily living as assigned. Monitor vital signs and report changes to the RN or medical staff. Assist with mobility and ambulation; observe and document patient conditions. Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing as directed. Assist with peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion/removal as trained. Qualifications HS Diploma or equivalent with one of the following: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program; or CNA; or NCMA; or NCPCT; or completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School; or Emergency Services certifications; or current enrollment in a clinical program with advanced study in RN/LPN/RT/PT; or recent PCT/Nursing Assistant experience (within the last 3 years). Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
