Presidential Postdoc Scholarship Opportunities, Any Field of Study, Any Citizenship Status

The President’s Postdoctoral Scholars Program (PPSP), supports highly-qualified postdocs training at Ohio State, who have a strong interest in pursuing academic (faculty) positions upon completion of their training. This program supports the scholarly efforts and training of terminal degree holders (PhD, MFA, and others), who wish to pursue careers in research and creative inquiry, and also provides professional development and networking opportunities. PPSP includes two years of salary support and full benefits provided by the Office of the President and the scholar’s faculty mentor and sponsor college. PPSP scholars receive dedicated funds each year to support research, creative expression, and professional development-related expenses. Postdocs are considered staff at Ohio State and as such have access to a full range of employee and medical benefits and services.

STEP 1: Find a faculty mentor. Use this Ohio State resource to see if there is a faculty member who aligns with your scholarly interests: () if you do not already have a potential mentor identified. Reach out to this potential mentor and see if they would be willing to sponsor you.

STEP 2: Have your potential Ohio State faculty mentor submit a short form of intent by Monday, November 30, 2026, 5:00 PM ET using the application system found here ( ppsp-26).

STEP 3: Work with your potential Ohio State faculty mentor to gather the materials for the full nomination package (see required materials here). The faculty mentor must submit a complete nomination by Wednesday, December 16, 2026, 5:00 PM ET.

STEP 4: Once the application portal closes, we will begin the review process. The first round of funding determinations should go out in March 2027.

Eligibility: US citizens, US permanent residents, and international scholars are all eligible to apply for this fellowship program. Candidates must have received terminal degree (e.g., EdD, MFA, PhD) no more than two years prior to nomination deadline (12/16/26). If the candidate is still in their doctoral/terminal degree training program, they must have received their degree before their proposed start date. Selected postdocs must be able to start their PPSP position between July 1, 2027 and January 3, 2028.
