About Us
The Label Factory is a pressure-sensitive label manufacturer in Des Moines, producing billions of labels a year for hundreds of customers across food and beverage, medical, industrial, and consumer products. We run a hybrid digital and flexographic operation with a team of about 30 people. We're growing, and we need a hands-on accountant who wants to own the numbers for a real manufacturing business.

The Role
This is our in-house accounting position. You'll handle day-to-day accounting, keep our books accurate and timely, and give leadership a clear picture of how the business is performing. You'll work closely with the CEO and Owner and partner with our outside CPA firm on taxes and year-end work. This role is on site at our plant: you'll be close to production, purchasing, and shipping, which is where manufacturing costs actually happen.

What You'll Do

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, customer invoicing, collections, and cash application
• Own the month-end close: reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statements delivered on a consistent schedule
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts
• Support payroll processing and benefits reconciliation
• Handle sales and use tax filings and other compliance requirements
• Prepare financial reports, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for leadership
• Prepare year-end schedules and work with our outside CPA on tax returns
• Identify ways to tighten processes, controls, and reporting

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
• [2–5+] years of accounting experience; manufacturing or inventory-heavy experience strongly preferred
• Highly fluent in Excel. This is essential, not a nice-to-have. You should be comfortable with:
• • Lookup functions (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), SUMIFS, and nested logic
  • Pivot tables and building clean summaries from large, messy data exports
  • Building reconciliations, schedules, and financial models from scratch
  • Data cleanup and structuring (Power Query experience is a plus)
• Solid understanding of GAAP, month-end close, and inventory and cost accounting
• Experience with your accounting software; Google Sheets experience is a plus
• Organized, accurate, and comfortable working independently in a small company where you are the accounting department
• Clear communicator who can explain the numbers to non-accountants
• CPA or progress toward it is a plus, but not required
