Job Summary
The HRIS Manager is a senior individual contributor responsible for the execution, delivery, and operational leadership of HR technology solutions in alignment with the HRIS strategy and roadmap established by the Director, HRIS. This role serves as the primary driver of complex HRIS initiatives, including system upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and process improvements - ensuring solutions are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
Operating with a high degree of independence, the HRIS Manager translates defined business and HR requirements into effective system configurations and solutions, partners closely with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Finance, IT, and external vendors, and serves as the primary operational escalation point for advanced Tier 2/3 system and data issues.
While this role does not have direct people management responsibility, it provides functional leadership and subject matter expertise across the HRIS landscape - including UKG (multiple instances), Dayforce, and SAP - by enforcing established standards, supporting governance execution, maintaining data integrity, and mentoring HRIS analysts. Enterprise HRIS strategy, prioritization, and final decision authority remain with the Director, HRIS.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the execution and delivery of complex HRIS initiatives - including system upgrades, enhancements, integrations, acquisitions, and process optimization efforts - in alignment with priorities and direction set by the Director, HRIS.
- Serve as the functional owner for assigned HR systems and modules, implementing and enforcing approved configuration standards, governance practices, and optimization strategies.
- Act as the primary operational escalation point for advanced Tier 2/3 HRIS issues, conducting root-cause analysis and resolving complex system, integration, security, and data issues prior to Director escalation as needed.
- Execute initiatives aligned to the HRIS technology roadmap by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, reporting accuracy, and user experience.
- Oversee day-to-day management of HR system integrations and interfaces, including vendor file feeds, data exchanges, testing coordination, error resolution, and ongoing monitoring.
- Lead system-related change execution activities, including impact analysis, testing coordination, deployment planning, and post-implementation stabilization.
- Maintain HR data integrity by executing established controls, supporting audits, monitoring data quality, and resolving complex data discrepancies across systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced HR reporting, dashboards, and analytics to support operational insight, leadership reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Own recurring and ad hoc reporting deliverables, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across HR platforms.
- Partner with IT to execute HRIS security and access governance processes, including role assignments, audits, approvals, and remediation activities in accordance with defined policies.
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day vendor activities related to HR system support, integrations, and project delivery in alignment with vendor strategy and contracts established by the Director, HRIS.
- Provide HRIS audit and compliance support, including SOX, EEO, and internal/external audit requests, documentation preparation, and system evidence.
- Develop and maintain HRIS documentation, SOPs, and job aids to support consistency, scalability, and knowledge transfer.
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert and functional mentor to HRIS analysts by providing guidance, reviewing work products, and supporting skill development.
- Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes to HR and business stakeholders with clarity, professionalism, and appropriate escalation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive HRIS experience supporting enterprise HR systems in a complex, multi-system environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently execute and deliver complex HRIS initiatives with a high degree of accuracy, accountability, and operational ownership.
- Advanced knowledge of HRIS architecture and data structures, including employee lifecycle data, job and position management, security models, workflows, integrations, and data governance.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms such as UKG (Enterprise/UKG Pro), Ceridian Dayforce, and/or SAP.
- Proven experience leading HRIS projects from requirements gathering through configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Strong understanding of HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Talent processes and their interdependencies across HR systems.
- Advanced reporting and analytics expertise, including development of complex reports, dashboards, and data extracts for operational, leadership, and compliance use.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, formulas); experience with Power Query, BI tools, or data visualization platforms preferred.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting HR system integrations, vendor interfaces, and file-based data exchanges.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions within defined standards and governance.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across HR, IT, and Finance.
- Experience supporting HRIS audit, compliance, and data privacy requirements, including SOX, EEO, and internal/external audits.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor HRIS analysts, promote best practices, and serve as a senior functional subject matter expert within an execution-focused role.
