County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5. Future Salary Increase: June 2027 – 5.03% increase to base pay (3% Across-the- Board + 2.03% Market Adjustment) About the Position: Supervising Correctional Counselors provide first-line supervision to Correctional Counselors, conducting counseling in County detention and reentry facilities. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing correctional programs; such as County Parole, Incarcerated Person Classification, Work Release, Incarcerated Person Education, Legal Research Services and other education/vocation, religious or psychosocial programs. This class is found in the Sheriff's Office, Detentions Services Bureau. Learn more about this classification, including duties, working conditions and salary. Education and Experience: Education, training, and/or experience that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above. Qualifying education/experience: A bachelor's degree from an accredited U. S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in counseling, psychology, sociology, criminal justice/administration, or other behavioral or social science field; AND One (1) year as a Correctional Counselor in the San Diego County's Sheriff's Office or equivalent. Note: Experience as described above may substitute for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
