Job Title: Production Worker/Order Filler

Job Description

As a Production Worker/Order Filler, your role involves receiving inbound raw materials from metal suppliers, organizing sheet metal on designated racks, and picking orders using a side loader. You will ensure the correct quantity and type of product is packaged and labeled before loading outbound trucks. This warehouse position requires meticulous attention to detail, particularly in verifying the correct items are picked. A unique aspect of this job is operating a side loader with four-way steering, which requires some adaptation. Additionally, cross-training on saw operation is part of the role, as this is utilized in another area of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Receive and organize inbound raw materials from metal suppliers.
• Pick orders using a side loader and load them onto pallets.
• Ensure correct quantity and type of product is packaged and labeled.
• Load outbound trucks with the completed orders.
• Verify items are correctly picked using bar codes.
• Cross-train in the order side of the business for saw operation.
• Handle pick sheets and follow inventory instructions accurately.

Essential Skills

• Experience using band saws or industrial saws.
• Experience with any type of forklift operation.
• Ability to stand for entire shifts outside of breaks.
• Proficiency in using a tape measure and measuring to 1/16 inch.
• Wearing metatarsal boots as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with side loaders.
• Experience in metal manufacturing or distribution.
• Experience with laser cutters or as a laser operator.

Work Environment

This role operates on a first shift schedule, initially from 7am to 3pm during training, eventually transitioning to 9am to 5pm. The facility does not require overtime during the temporary period, with occasional overtime opportunities when full-time. The warehouse is mid-sized and divided into three main areas. While there is no air conditioning, the environment remains manageable. Required personal protective equipment includes hard hats, safety glasses, cut gloves, and sleeves, with a casual dress code that permits jeans and t-shirts, but restricts tank tops and jewelry.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
