This Staff Accountant position is critical for managing the daily accounting operations of one of these portfolio companies, ensuring financial accuracy and supporting overall business health. It offers a unique opportunity to gain practical accounting experience across diverse business models within a centralized finance team, directly contributing to how a family office manages and grows its owned companies. The TL;DR Role: Early Career Location: In-person, Chicago, IL Team: Centralized accounting team, reporting to a Senior Accountant Mission: Support the day-to-day accounting for one operating company within Skybox’s diverse portfolio, ensuring accurate financial records and reporting. Tech Stack: Bill.com, NetSuite, AI tools What You’ll Actually Do Record Keeping & Processing: Record and organize incoming mail, payments, and invoices, and process bills and manage approvals through Bill.com. Journal Entries & Close: Prepare and post journal entries in NetSuite and assist in month-end close and account reconciliations. Financial Reporting: Support financial reporting for your assigned operating company. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the broader accounting team and operations leaders across the portfolio. Process Improvement: Learn to use AI tools to streamline accounting tasks and data analysis, contributing to ad hoc projects across finance and operations. The Must-Haves Background: Recent graduate or early-career professional with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business. Experience: Entry-level professional eager to build foundational operational accounting experience within diverse business models. Skills: Detail-oriented, organized, tech-savvy, and curious about financial technology and data analysis.
