We are a growing hotel management company with a portfolio of limited-service and full-service hotels across multiple brands and markets. As we continue to grow and expand our in-house accounting team, we are looking for an experienced Senior Property Accountant who enjoys digging into the numbers, solving problems, and working closely with hotel operations.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Property Accountant, you will oversee the accounting and financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of hotels and help ensure accuracy and consistency across our organization.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage the monthly close process for assigned hotels.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Complete bank reconciliations and research outstanding items.
• Reconcile cash deposits, credit card activity, and merchant settlements.
• Reconcile hotel PMS and POS revenue to the general ledger.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and reclassifications.
• Review general ledger activity and identify unusual transactions or coding issues.
• Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable and assist with collection follow-up.
• Review accounts payable activity and ensure expenses are recorded accurately and in the proper period.
• Reconcile payroll activity and related balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare, reconcile, and file applicable sales, use, lodging, occupancy, and local taxes for assigned properties, ensuring filings and payments are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintain a tax filing calendar for all assigned properties and jurisdictions.
• Research discrepancies between PMS revenue, taxable revenue, and amounts reported on tax returns.
• Maintain supporting documentation for tax filings and respond to routine notices or information requests.
• Assist with state and local tax audits as needed.
• Coordinate with the company's outside CPA firm on federal and state income tax filings and other tax matters outside the scope of property accounting.
• Maintain fixed asset and prepaid schedules.
• Assist with annual budgets and forecasts.
• Work directly with hotel General Managers and corporate leadership to research and resolve accounting questions.
• Identify accounting discrepancies and internal control concerns and communicate them to leadership.
• Help develop and maintain standardized accounting procedures across the GLMG portfolio.
• Assist with streamlining and maintaining the company's chart of accounts.
• Support new hotel openings, conversions, acquisitions, and management transitions.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the outside CPA firm, tax preparation, audits, and financial reviews.
• Provide guidance and support to Property Accountants and other members of the accounting team.
• Assist with special projects as we continue to grow.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 4+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Hotel or hospitality accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience preparing and filing sales, use, lodging, occupancy, or similar state and local tax returns preferred.
• Multi-property or multi-entity accounting experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, AP, AR, accruals, and cash reconciliation.
• Experience with hotel accounting systems and PMS/POS systems preferred.
• M3 experience is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify when something doesn't look right.
• Ability to manage multiple properties, priorities, filing deadlines, and jurisdictions.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working directly with hotel General Managers and corporate leadership.
• Ability to work independently while being part of a collaborative team.

CPA certification is not required.
