Firmware Engineer

Develop embedded firmware for Qnovia's connected inhalation devices, integrating real-time control systems with cloud-based digital health platforms.

About the Role

Qnovia's drug delivery devices combine precise ultrasonic nebulization with connected digital health technology. As a Firmware Engineer, you will develop the embedded software that controls device operation, manages sensor data, and enables Bluetooth connectivity for our companion mobile application. Your work will directly impact treatment efficacy and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test embedded firmware for ARM Cortex-M based microcontrollers
• Develop real-time control algorithms for ultrasonic nebulization and aerosol generation
• Integrate sensor systems including flow sensors, pressure transducers, and accelerometers
• Write and maintain unit tests and integration tests for firmware modules
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on PCB bring-up and system-level debugging
• Support firmware update and device provisioning infrastructure
• Contribute to design documentation and software development lifecycle (SDLC) artifacts per IEC 62304

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
• 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development
• Proficiency in C/C++ for resource-constrained environments
• Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with communication protocols (BLE, SPI, I2C, UART)
• Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and embedded debugging tools
• Understanding of software development for regulated medical devices (IEC 62304)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) stack development
• Background in motor control or piezoelectric driver systems
• Familiarity with OTA firmware update mechanisms
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for embedded software

$130,000 – $170,000 annually, depending on experience. Equity participation included.
