Chief Accountant | Tampa Bay Area| Compensation: $170k plus bonus potential


A well-established, privately held company in the Tampa Bay area is seeking a Chief Accountant to serve as the senior accounting leader within the finance organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this person will own the full accounting function including financial close, GAAP reporting, tax compliance, audit coordination, and internal controls.


This is a hands-on leadership role with direct reports across accounting, fixed assets, and payroll. The right candidate brings technical depth, a track record of building and improving accounting teams, and the credibility to work closely with executive leadership.


What You'll Own

• Monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• GAAP-compliant financial statement preparation and management reporting
• Chart of accounts and cost accounting structure
• Tax compliance across federal, state, payroll, and sales/use
• External audit coordination; primary contact for the audit team
• Internal controls design, monitoring, and remediation
• Accounting systems optimization and process improvement
• Leadership and development of the accounting team

What We're Looking For

• Active CPA license required
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; MBA a plus
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a Controller or Accounting Manager role
• Experience in a multi-entity or multi-division business preferred
• Public accounting background strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to deliver clean audits, tight close cycles, and reliable financials
• Strong communicator; able to translate technical accounting for non-finance stakeholders
