Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) Coordinator Reports to: Pastor and Director of Ministry & Discipleship. Status: Part‑time (up to 19 hours per week). Job Summary The part‑time position of Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) Coordinator assists the Pastor/Parochial Administrator and the Director of Ministry and Discipleship (DMD) in overseeing the Parish Religious Education Program from Grade Level 1 through Grade Level 6, using the guidelines of the Office for Catechetical Formation of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Key Responsibility Areas Oversee the Parish Religious Education (PREP) program and its operation across grades 1‑6. Provide access and inclusion for children with special learning needs. Implement Archdiocesan policies and procedures per directives from the Office for Catechetical Formation. Oversee PREP registration, recruit qualified catechists, and assign classroom duties. Ensure compliance with Safe Environment requirements and policies for volunteers. Ensure students have adequate sacramental preparation. Collaborate with the Pastor and DMD to schedule dates for sacraments such as First Penance, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. Schedule and coordinate sacramental meetings for parents of school‑age candidates. Coordinate retreat days for students preparing for First Communion and Confirmation. Work with the Pastor and Director of Liturgy to prepare liturgies for sacramental celebrations. Schedule Advent and Lenten Penance services, including individual confession opportunities. Create and oversee catechetical plans for older baptized Catholic children or teens. Assist in the Parish Office as needed. Required Abilities, Education, and Experience Preferred: Theology or Religious Education degree/certification. Prior experience working in a Catholic parish, PREP/CCD, or school setting. Practicing Catholic in good standing, willing to function in accordance with the mission of the Catholic Church. Excellent interpersonal communication skills (listening, speaking, written). Supervisory skills and a professional, friendly persona. Ability to maintain confidentiality and cultivate a culture of trust. Ability to develop and maintain a budget for programming. Strong prioritization, flexibility, and independent judgment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and willingness to learn other online platforms such as MinistryPlatform and Flocknote. Other Qualifications Possesses the heart of a missionary disciple. Possesses excellent communication and supervisory skills. Displays a professional and friendly persona, able to maintain confidentiality. Compensation Employment is dependent upon successful completion of required background checks and legally mandated training. Compensation is hourly, commensurate with experience, and may be paid up to 19 hours per week. Timesheets must be kept accurate and submitted prior to each pay period.
