Medical Interpreter, TigrinyaHarborview Medical Center's Interpreter Services Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Interpreter, Tigrinya.Work Schedule:40 hours per weekDay shiftPosition Highlights:Enable patient(s) to access medical careBe a part of a team dedicated to improving language accessPrimary Job Responsibilities:Provide oral, sight and written interpretation for target language(s)Transmit information accurately between patient and provider or staffEncourage direct communication between patient and provider or staffManage complexity of cross-cultural encounterProvide sight translation in the presence of a provider and/or other medical staffAssist patients to complete medical, financial, or other formsRequirements:High school graduation or equivalent AND two years interpretation experience in a clinic or hospital settingAND medical interpreter certification or qualification either from Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, or the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.About Harborview Medical Center:As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
