Patient Services Specialist 2UW Medical Center-Northwest Financial Admitting has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist 2 to join us in our Admitting department.Work SchedulePer-Diem, Variable ShiftPosition HighlightsPerforms a variety of admitting department tasks including: patient registration, general clerical support, customer service, and operating the switchboard.Be a part of a team dedicated to supporting UW Medicine where Patients Are First.Primary Job ResponsibilitiesGreets, directs, and assists all patients and visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and professional mannerEnsures patients understand admission policies and proceduresCoordinate obtaining interpreters for patients as appropriatePerforms admitting or pre-admitting procedures upon arrival of patients to include register patients; verify, collect, and update demographic and financial information by appropriate meansDetermine eligibility for care by use of payer web portals and phone inquiriesCollect co-payment or other patient liabilitiesRespond to patient questions; provide directions to specified areas such as clinics, units, ancillary and support departments, parking and eating facilitiesAssist patients in accessing hospital and community services by consulting and making referrals to appropriate resourcesPromptly and courteously answer all calls through Medical Center switchboardImplements emergency procedures calmly, efficiently, and accuratelyAssist in orienting and training new staff as assignedRequirementsHigh School graduation or equivalentOne year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experienceAn equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirementAbout UW Medical Center-NorthwestUW Medical Center is an acute care hospital located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
