Job Description

The Machinist sets up, lays out, programs, and operates CNC mill-turn machines to produce prototype and small-run production components for aerospace, medical, nuclear, and other advanced technology industries. This role works with a wide range of materials, from plastics to various metals, and is responsible for ensuring parts meet precise dimensional and quality requirements through accurate machining and thorough inspection.

Responsibilities

• Perform full set-up and layout of CNC mill-turn machines
• Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and written instructions
• Load the correct CNC programs to the machines and utilize G and M codes to control machining operations.
• Set proper holding pressure on vises and collets to ensure secure and accurate workholding.
• Inspect machined parts using precision instruments

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience operating specific CNC mill-turn machines (including lathe experience as a plus).
• Proven experience working with CNC mill-turn machines from manufacturers such as Mazak and Haas.
• Strong CNC programming experience, including the ability to independently create and modify programs.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM and CNC programming software, including Surfcam, Edgecam, Mastercam, and Mazak-specific CAM systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and written instructions for machining operations.
• Experience with machining in the nuclear, medical, and aerospace industries

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dexter, MI.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
