X-Ray Technologist

Overview The Medical Imaging Technologist works under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Section Head, the manager, and Radiologist. The technologist performs technical procedures and assists in the clinical evaluation and care of patients. Utilizing their specific modality, they create diagnostic images and provide a safe positive experience for patients. Core Responsibilities Maintain competent imaging skills in the assigned modality and continue developing a professional imaging department. Assist physicians in all aspects of procedures in the assigned area. Act as mentor and preceptor to new staff and students; support teaching and continuing education. Enter patient data accurately into computer systems. Qualify images and patient information for accuracy before sending to PACs. Obtain peripheral IV access and inject contrast material when required. Support department accreditation and maintain radiation safety in compliance with New York State Department of Health Code Part16. Take calls if applicable. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications Diploma from an approved professional academic imaging program, or an Associate’s Degree, Applied Science Degree, or Vocational School Diploma in X‑ray. Hands‑on experience in the modality or related skills (preferred). Current New York State registration or limited permit to practice in New York. ARRT certification upon hire. Knowledge of patient care appropriate to age and special characteristics. Compliance with hospital/departments policies and accrediting agencies’ standards. Physical Demands Standing, walking, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination are regularly required.
