Job Responsibilities
- Provide care for residents: Follow individualized service plans to deliver personal care services such as transferring, bathing, feeding, toileting, grooming, dressing, and end‑of‑life care; observe and report changes in condition; record weights, vital signs, and infection control measures.
- Observation, evaluation, and reporting: Monitor residents for physical, emotional, and psychological changes and use standard equipment (blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, pulse oximeters, etc.) to document findings; report concerns to the proper department.
- Maintain required training: Keep current certifications required by local and state licensing agencies, including first aid, CPR, dementia, mental health, nurse delegation, medical aide, lift safety, CEUs, and other coursework.
- Housekeeping duties: Perform assigned housekeeping tasks such as carpet and furniture shampooing, common area cleaning, laundry, and other duties as directed.
- Continuous quality improvement: Participate in the Bear Creek CQI program, identify deficiencies, and report them to the supervisor for corrective action; contribute to safety committee initiatives.
- Compliance: Follow all local, state, and federal regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, bloodborne pathogen guidelines) and document care in accordance with Bear Creek policies.
- Safety: Work safely and correct unsafe actions; assist with injury investigations and return‑to‑work processes when required.
- Team effectiveness: Foster teamwork by supporting co‑workers, taking initiative, and maintaining a positive impact on residents and visitors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education and Licensing: High school diploma or equivalent required; state certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of hands‑on nursing assistant or similar experience, preferably in long‑term care with the elderly or medically fragile individuals.
- Technical Skills: Competency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Continuing Education: State requirements met; preferred coursework in fundamentals, basic caregiving, body systems, documentation, and reporting.
- Communication: Ability to engage in two‑way verbal and written communication with residents, staff, and visitors from diverse backgrounds.
- Working Behaviors: Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, patience, and a healthy attitude; adhere to Bear Creek policies; remain safe and accountable; seek supervision when needed.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Walk, stand, bend, or sit for 6–12 hours in a healthcare setting.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 80 lbs.
- Operate equipment such as blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, and computers.
- Respond rapidly to emergencies; maintain personal safety and that of clients.
Compensation
$18 - $19 hourly
