Web Programming Lecturer Teach, Lead & Grade Courses

Position Details Position: Sessional Lecturer – CSC309H1S – Programming on the Web (two positions, 0.5 FCE appointment). Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto). Sessional Dates: January 1, 2027–April 30, 2027. Description Course number and title: CSC309H1S – Programming on the Web. Course description: An introduction to software development on the web, covering concepts underlying the development of programs that operate on the web, survey of technology alternatives, depth on selected technologies, internet and web operational concepts, static and dynamic client content, n‑tiered architectures, web development processes, and security on the web. Reference: Estimated enrolment: 120 students per section . Salary Sessional Lecturer I = $14,381.00 Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term = $16,080.00 Sessional Lecturer II = $16,080.00 Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term = $17,212.00 Sessional Lecturer III = $17,212.00 Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term = $17,755.00 Rates stipulated in the collective agreement prevail if they differ from those listed above. Minimum Qualifications Graduate degree in Computer Science or a closely related field. Demonstrated expertise in the topic area of the course. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Teaching experience at the university level or an equivalent industry level. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience teaching undergraduate courses in Computer Science. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching. Duties Prepare and deliver in‑person lectures on campus as scheduled. Handle course administration: maintain the course website on Quercus, develop marking schemes and syllabus, plan tutorial content (when applicable), and create course assessments such as assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, and final examinations. Provide contact time outside class through office hours, email, the course website, and/or the course bulletin board. Prepare the breakdown of hours for TA duties and supervise the TAs. Ensure tutorials and/or labs are delivered appropriately by the TAs. Manage grading for the course, largely performed by the TAs, and complete any grading not handled by the TAs. Invigilate term tests and the final exam when applicable. Manage grades, release grades and feedback to students on time, and submit final course grades (due May 7, 2027).
