Job Summary: Deliver top-quality healthcare services by utilizing ionizing radiation to produce diagnostic images for licensed practitioners.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures, ensuring patient clinical history aligns with the procedure and documenting information for practitioner use.
- Prepare patients by providing clear instructions to achieve optimal results, reduce anxiety, and encourage cooperation.
- Operate radiography equipment and accessories to successfully complete imaging procedures.
- Position patients to best display the anatomical area of interest while respecting their comfort and abilities.
- Immobilize patients as needed for accurate examinations.
- Determine appropriate radiographic exposure techniques.
- Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper identification.
- Attend to patients' physical and psychological needs during procedures.
- Practice aseptic techniques when necessary.
- Perform venipunctures and prepare, identify, and administer contrast media as prescribed.
- Verify informed consent and assist licensed practitioners with interventional and fluoroscopic procedures.
- May perform non-interpretive fluoroscopic procedures and assist with urinary catheter anchoring if instructed.
- Initiate basic life support when required.
- Educate patients about tests and procedures.
- Maintain assigned areas, report equipment issues, and manage supplies.
- Provide practical instruction to students and healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all relevant standards and policies.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology.
- Computer proficiency.
- Certification by the relevant state authority.
- Graduate from an accredited Radiography program with an active student license at start.
- Registry eligible and must obtain R.T.(R) ARRT credential within six months of hire.
This role may require on-call duties to provide technical assistance or shift coverage as needed, with schedules determined by department leadership.
