Job TitleProvide learning experiences for dental program students while providing high quality dental care for clinic patients.Utilize expert knowledge of dental procedures and dental clinic operations to provide high quality dental services consistent with the needs of the instructional program and dental clinic. Assist and guide students and staff performing dental procedures and working in the dental clinic. This position works under general and infrequent supervision. This position reports to the Dental Clinic Manager and the Associate Dean of Dental Programs and is a non-exempt, hourly, position.Essential FunctionsPerform dental procedures for clinic patients consistent with industry, regulatory and college standardsProvide traditional and expanded function learning experiences for students in a team environment with other college staffWork with college staff to provide high quality, cost effective dental care to patients; identify comprehensive dental care needs, develop treatment plans, make referrals, maintain accurate records, etc.Assist with student evaluation and patient educationWork with college staff to coordinate clinic operations and contribute to program goals and objectivesRegular and satisfactory attendance and punctualityPerform other related duties similar in scope and complexityQualificationsGraduation from an accredited school of DentistryCurrent Washington State Dental LicenseAbility to facilitate communication and interaction with instructional staff and studentsKnowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations applicable to dentistryAbility to interact with diverse student populationsKnowledge of the role and duties of dental assistants and hygienistsAbility to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needsTwo years clinical practice experience and/or dental teaching experience preferredExperience working with a dental assistant using four-handed dentistry techniquesDue to the diversity of the college population, we encourage applicants who are multilingualSupplemental InformationRequired Online Application Materials • Online application • Current resume • Cover letter • Responses to the supplemental questions included in the online application process To be considered for a position you MUST submit a complete online application form, resume, cover letter, responses to the supplemental questions included in the online application process.Physical Requirements Ability to perform range of physical motions; lifting and carrying; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.Lake Washington Institute of Technology is an equal opportunity employer.
